Study

Where are we now?

Baseline Cultural and Social Research

Through study, research, and training, we empower communities to prepare baseline
studies and community / cultural profiles to participate effectively in impact assessment processes.

Our services include supporting clients to:

  • Establish baseline cultural, health, social, and economic community profiles.

  • Collect and map Indigenous land use patterns and traditional knowledge.

  • Engage community members on important issues and processes including climate change and impact assessment.

 Our approach empowers communities to:

  • Build capacity through training and awareness programs.

  • Document traditional land use patterns and knowledge to proactively support project consultations in impact assessment and in climate change action.

  • Participate in impact assessment processes using community knowledge, gathered by and for the community.

  • Share important information with project proponents and governments for joint decision-making.

The result is that project proponents and government agencies:

  • Engage effectively with well-informed communities.

  • More accurately identify and verify valued components that may be impacted by projects or climate change.

  • Co-consider western science and Indigenous knowledge in decision-making.
